Cover:
Individual Story Cover:
Villain:
None! Joke’s on them. They land on an island where a movie is taking place and are fooled into thinking it’s real.
Panel:
Heh.
Okay, this is knitting, not comics. But it is Batman. And it features my all-time favorite Batman (thus far, but it isn’t looking like much will change my mind from the 1940s).
Thanks to a week of meetings, I had more than enough time to finish up my Holey Socks, Batman!
Yarn Pirate came out with a colorway called “Gotham.” I had to have it.
Combined with the Knitty pattern Sunday Swing Socks, which is fittingly holey, I had the best Batman socks ever.
The pattern was easy. The yarn was great. I enjoyed knitting them and wish I’d gotten them done faster, but life and a baby blanket got in the way.
I plan on growling “I am the night!” whenever I wear them.

Post #100! WOO! And still 1942… *sigh*
Title: Detective Comics #62 “Laugh, Town, Laugh!” Writer: Bob Kane Date: April 1942
The Joker – in Hammer pants
Bob is starting to use all sorts of awesome sound effects.
I just couldn’t pass this one up.
Ad:
This could dramatically change your life, you asthma-havers. Granted, they never say what it is, exactly, but it’s free!
Title: Detective Comics #61 “The Three Racketeers” Writer: Bob Kane Date: March 1942
Come on Bob. The same exactly cover both outside and inside? Laaaazy.
The Three Racketeers
Transformers style Batmobile and thigh-clamp in the same panel.
I want Bomber Power.

Batman threatening Santa makes me warm and fuzzy inside.
Title: Batman #9 “The Case of the Lucky Law-Breakers!” Writer: Bob Kane Date: February/March 1942
The Joker
They never explain how he got that duck into the jail.
Robin decides to leave his life of fighting crime for Broadway. Jazz hands!
Title: Batman #9 “The White Whale” Writer: Bob Kane Date: February/March 1942
Radbey
But really, it’s Moby Dick. Everything starts because they are hunting down a giant white whale.
See? I’m not even joking.
What?
Heh … he he he. You may say I have a dirty mind, but I’ve got to keep myself amused.
Title: Batman #9 “The Four Fates” Writer: Bob Kane Date: February/March 1942
The Four Fates. Or…something? It’s…weird. And unclear.
Reference to War of the Worlds for the win.
If you needed any more proof that Batman is a total BAMF, he punched a bullet into a guy’s heart.
BAM!
This is a note-worthy one: the first appearance of the bat signal.
Title: Detective Comics #60 “Case of the Costume-Clad Killers” Writer: Bob Kane Date: February 1942
The first appearance of the Bat-signal.
Ohhhh SNAP!
Robin in a dress.
Hurry!
Happy New Year! Welcome to 1942.
Title: Detective Comics #59 “The King of the Jungle” Writer: Bob Kane Date: Jan 1942
The Penguin
Batman and Robin go on a vacation. Really? I’m not even going to bother linking back to all the times this has gone wrong.
I enjoy this newsboy’s call:
Looks like Wonder Woman has arrived. To the invisible plane!
